  1. Log into your Yahoo! Account to show the client interface.
  2. Select Preferences from the Messenger menu.
  1. Click the Use Proxies option.
  1. Click the 'Enable HTTP Proxy' box.
  1. In the HTTP Proxy area enter 127.0.0.1 into the Server Host box and 8080 into the Server Port box.
  1. Click Apply to save your changes. Click OK when Yahoo! Messenger asks you for permission to re-sign on.
  2. Use Yahoo! Messenger as you normally would. You shouldn't notice any difference in the way Yahoo! Messenger behaves, but your are not protected by the Tunneler's active encryption.

Remember to turn on the Tunneler before you sign in using Yahoo! Messenger, or else you will not be able to connect the Yahoo! network.

If you wish to use Yahoo! without the Tunneler, follow these steps:

Reverting Yahoo! Messenger Back to a Direct Internet Connection

  1. Log into your Yahoo! Account to show the client interface.
  2. Select Preferences from the Messenger menu.
  3. Deselect the Use Proxies option.
  4. Click OK to save your changes, then click OK when Yahoo! Messenger asks you for permission to re-sign on.

After following the instructions above, you will be using a direct Internet connection to connect to the Yahoo! servers, and hence will not have Tunneler Protection.
