Configuring and Using Trillian
Trillian is a multi-protocol chat client that supports AOL Instant Messenger, MSN, ICQ, IRC, and Yahoo! chat systems. It also supports both HTTP and SOCKS v5 proxies. Therefore, it is possible to tunnel your chat conversations on these networks through the MetroPipe Tunneler.
To set up Trillian to use the Tunnel, follow these instructions:

Configuring Trillian's proxy settings
- Start Trillian.
- Click on the globe at the bottom left of the Trillian window and select 'Preferences...'
- Click 'Proxy' in the menu on the left.
- Check both the 'Use below proxy settings for all mediums' and 'Use proxy server to resolve all names' boxes.
- Check the 'Use Proxy' box.
- Select SOCKS5 from the Protocol list.
- In the Proxy Info area, enter 127.0.0.1 into the Host box. Enter 8085 into the Port box.
- Leave the Authentication boxes blank (the Tunneler application does all the authentication for you).
- Click OK or Apply to save your settings.
- Use Trillian as your normally would. You shouldn't see any difference in the way Trillian works, but you are now protected with the Tunneler.
Remember to turn on the Tunneler before you start Trillian, or else you will not be able to connect to the chat networks. If you wish to use Trillian without the Tunneler, follow these steps:
