HOWTO: Anonymous Newsgroup Reading using the Tunneler

Overview

You can easily get an anonymous webmail account by using the Tunneler to subscribe and use such services. Using the Tunneler protects your IP address from being recorded. As many Webmail providers record your IP address, and even insert it along with all outgoing messages into the message headers, the Tunneler provides an extra layer of anonymity between you and your webmail service provider.

  • Diiva - Easy and unlimited web access to an archive of over 27 million newsgroup images.

Web Based USENET Steps:

  1. Have your Tunneler installed and running.
  2. Check IPSpy, make sure you are protected.
  3. Remove All Cookies - (Clears possible old cookies with identifying information.)

Important Points

  • Always use the Tunneler when accessing these anonymous webmail accounts, even just one mistake of going direct without the Tunneler, and your real IP could be exposed and recorded along with your account information, thus compromising your privacy.
