Internet Explorer Configuration

From MetroPipe WIKI

The Tunneler creates an encrypted tunnel between your computer and our 'proxy' machines in Europe. Your web browser must be instructed to send traffic via the Tunneler, and not via the unprotected local network. To do this, the browser's Proxy Settings must be configured.

    IPSpy Results

If IPSpy says you're Protected, then your Tunneler is running, and you have configured Internet Explorer properly. If IP Spy says you are Unprotected, then your proxies haven't been configured properly. This could be because the version of Internet Explorer that is installed on your system has hard-coded proxy settings. Please consult the Troubleshooting section of this wiki for assistance in getting up and running with the Tunneler.

Manually Switching back to the Default Connection

If you turn off your Tunneler, and you do not have automatic proxy configuration enabled, you will need to manually switch your Internet Explorer proxy settings back to the default connection in order to use the Internet.

To switch your IE proxies to the default connection, follow these steps:

    1. In Internet Explorer, go to the Tools menu and select Options.
    2. Click on the Connections tab.
    3. If you are using a DSL, Cable or LAN connection, click on the LAN Settings button. If you are using a Dialup connection, select the connection from the list, and press the Settings button.
    4. Uncheck the 'Use proxy for this connection' box.
    5. Click OK in to get back to the Options window, then click OK in the Options window.
    6. Close any open Internet Explorer windows, then open a new Internet Explorer window and browse normally.
