Anonymous Webmail Accounts using the Tunneler
This page shows you some of the privacy issues with Webmail and how to setup an Anonymous Webmail account from many commercial/free Webmail providers using the Tunneler as an anonymizing and encryption layer.
[edit]
The Problem with Webmail Privacy and Anonymity
- IP Address Exposure
- Your IP address may be recorded when you create a Webmail account and everytime you login after that. An IP Address can be tracked, to follow your exposed physical location as you use computers in different locations, each leaving its IP in the Webmail providers logs.
- IP Address Broadcasting
- Your IP address may be inserted into every Webmail you send. All recipients of your emails may recieve your current IP address while using the Webmail in all of your mails to them. Worse than just the Webmail provider recording your IP, in this case its sent to every person you mail.
- Traffic Sniffing
- Co-workers, family members, network administrators, ISP's, or other criminal elements may be able to see the sites and the pages you view while accessing Webmail by sniffing your cleartext traffic. Very easy to use utilities exist to do this now, no technical expertise needed. With tools such as these its easy to read all incoming and outgoing emails as you use your Webmail.

The Solution
The Tunneler provides an extra layer of anonymity between you and your Webmail service provider, and an encryption layer between your machine and our network.
- IP Address Exposure
- Your true IP Address will be hidden and protected, the address recorded will be that of one of our Proxy machines.
- IP Address Broadcasting
- Your true IP Address will be hidden and protected, the address inserted into outgoing mails will be that of one of our Proxy machines.
- Traffic Sniffing
- All Webmail access is being done via the Tunneler. Thus all traffic is passing through the Tunnelers encrypted tunnels to our Proxy machines. Thus any sniffing of traffic by anyone from another person on your home network, your office, your ISP, or in-between all the way to our network, will be impossible, they will only see random data from the Tunneler connection.

HOWTO
- Have your Tunneler installed and running.
- Check IPSpy, make sure you are protected.
- Remove All Cookies - (Clears possible old cookies with identifying information.)
- Register for a Webmail account at your favorite webmail provider. (MailVault, Yahoo!)
- Use your Tunneler anonymized Webmail account whenever you wish, but only while running the Tunneler.
[edit]
Important Points
- You must always CREATE the webmail accounts with Tunneler protection, as your IP address may be recorded with the account creation process.
- Always use the Tunneler when accessing these anonymous webmail accounts, even just one mistake of going direct without the Tunneler, and your real IP could be exposed and recorded along with your account information, thus compromising your privacy.
